Watching DCP talk about Horses in the Book of Mormon is such a load a farkin crap.
DCP and his idiot pal say oh, there have been horse bones found all over in burial sites, but archaeologists are tossing them aside not knowing what to do with them. WTF?
And his pal sits there and says when they talk about chariots and s***, look at the chapter, we should compare Isaiah so it's OK because, well it's Isaiah and NOT Book of Mormon. Again, WTF?
These knuckleheads will say anything, twist anything, distort anything to make Mormons continue to believe it is all true.
It's more tripe from boldface lying Mormon apologists.
[MODERATOR NOTE: Please do not use the "S" word in the Terrestrial Forum.]

UNBELIEVABLE!
You have got to be kidding me!
No documentation, no source, no ANYTHING...
Just nonsense, claims, and assertions.
These guys certainly cannot believe what they are asserting and claiming, can they? Do they?
WOW... and folks wonder why fewer and fewer believers trust apologists.
Nibley got away with this sort of thing because the internet was not available but this sort of stuff just doesn't cut it today when we can actually verify and validate information.
~dancer~
(I've only watched the horse clip but, wow... unbelievable)
I'm thinking we need Beastie to get some youtube videos online! (smile)

Chariots:
Dan: So far no direct evidence of chariots, there are roads in a lot of places that suggest heavy traffic they might have been developed not just for foot travel but for some type of wheeled travel.
John: Case of Ammon and the Lamanite King, we don’t know what the nature of that chariot.
Dan: It is possible, and I am just sort of thinking out loud here, that the word chariot may not mean exactly what we picture again we always have to be open to the possibility that it is not quite what we imagine to be a chariot.
The word for chariot in Hebrew is very similar to the Arabic word for boat, and they simply mean in both cases something that is ridden. That doesn’t say necessarily it looks like Ben Hur’s chariot, it might be a different kind of thing all together.
I’m not saying that is the case. I’m just saying that when you are looking at ancient documents, you have to be prepared for the idea that your mental picture may be wrong, what you imagined from the movies may not be actually correct.

"I am just sort of thinking out loud here" - that's the BEST kind of scholarship, isn't it? And now the Nephites are riding around roads in boats? Cool!
Edited to add: And Dan should have said something like "The word for chariot in Hebrew, when written in Reformed Egyptian and translated into King James English, is very similar to the Arabic word for boat."
I may be going to hell in a bucket, babe / But at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Elephants:
Brant: Absolutely, it depends on the time period. You go back far enough and you find out what that's…
Dan: The evidence for elephants is very controversial it has been usual received opinion that elephants died out a few thousand years before the Book of Mormon story begins.
John: But as it turns out there were some that still survived on Wrangel Island, which is off the North Eastern coast of Siberia. And the latest of them is from 1700 BC which is well within Jaradite times. That doesn’t prove that there were some farther South in the Americas but we certainly should expect that there could have been
Dan: There has been for a long time, for decades now a minority of zoologists and archaeologists and so on, who argued that elephants actally did exists in the Americas up until something like 2000 BC which is just about right for the Book of Mormon because we are talking about Jaradite elephants not Nephite elephants.

Translation: there were elephants somewhere else on another continent, so of course there were elephants in the Americas!

I can see that I am dealing with non-professionals on this forum and so, allow me to educate you guys and gals of the internet. It is not about documenting every fact or detail. It is about getting the message across to the general public. And FAIR did a good job. As they pointed out in the video the lighthouse ministries gave a one-sided presentation during their attack on the Book of Mormon. It was not meant for Einsteins either.
When a person is making a video, the question that needs to be asked is: Who is the audience? And such was the case for FAIR. The videos are 6 minute soundbites for the general audience.

When the people are identified as "scholars" on the video, we have every right to expect that there is some actual scholarship behind their claims. Not "I'm just thinking out loud" and making unsupported statements ("we don't know what this means, so I can make up my only baseless theory"). I don't care what the lighthouse ministries did - it has no bearing on whether this propaganda has any validity.
