Definitions are very fluid in some circles. Don’t even get me started on how they decide which era of modern English to use for any given word.

Wish Joseph had a Middle English tutor so he could have incorporated some of the Canterbury Tales material, such as The Wives of Nauvoo, or even Spanish so we could have heard of the holy works of Don Juan in El burlador de Sevilla.
