Why? The temple endowment ceremony isn't in the scriptures. It's origins are not scriptorial.

Perhaps so, but the scirptures can be found in the temple endowment ceremony.

The scriptures can be found in Tom Sawyer , but that doesn't make the book scripture or authoritative.

That is also true and I don't believe I made any claims about authority based merely on the scriptures. Yet I still think that finding the scriptures within ceremonies, books, and so on can shed additional light on the both the scriptures (by letting me interpret it in a new way) and on the thing which quotes or alludes to the scriptures. I can even find the scriptures in various things I'm pretty sure aren't authoritative (like rock music).

And they need not be, as long as there are living oracles and continuing revelation. May I see your Mormon credentials again Harmony? I'd prefer at least two forms of ID and a ZCMI credit card...

You keep on questioning and attacking Harmony's "credentials," but I've been reading her for years on these boards and she's the kind of Mormon that has given the church as good a name as it has in society. You may not like her tone, but you can't discredit her so easily.

For those who wear them, why do you think God cares what type of underwear you wear? Didn't He create us naked? And when the fall happened, didn't he just clothe us in anaimal skins? I find no mention of underwear anywhere.

didn't you know the lost 13th commandment? "Thou shalt be ashamed of thine own anatomy"

LOL! Good one!

I've never understood the garment thing. My wife complained that she was too hot in the summer, and I had to remind her that she had on an extra set of clothes.

You mean as long as there are men who claim to speak for God and people who believe they do.

May I see your Mormon credentials again Harmony?

Baptised and confirmed Oct 1970 in a little college town out in the middle of nowhere.

Endowed Dec 1971 in the Idaho Falls Temple.

How does knowing that make any difference?
