Nephi, the only disgrace is that Mormon God's church would turn you away from the temple because you drank a beer. What God worth worshiping could be that petty? The legalistic requirements for attending a religious ceremony ripped off from Masonry are the real disgrace, Nephi.

If you are referring to freemansonry, I am already working that alley as we speak. I have recently discovered that I have about 4 or so friends who are freemasons. If you are referring to some Greek fraternity, well, I have news for you... I'ma SigEp.

Interesting concept.

What's the interesting part? That I am turing it in on Sunday, or that I realize that the Church has a set amount of rules to enter a temple, of which I know I do not follow one, and therefore since I respect the temple, I do not wish to deceive others by entering the temple?

I don't want to put words into your mouth but when you do turn in your TR don't look at as disgracing "gods temple". First because it isn't "god's" temple (if there is such an anthropomorphically conceptualized being) and second, do it because the concept of the temple and the requirements are silly.

Whether or not its God's temple is beside the point. What is the point is that there are specific requirements to enter the temple, and I do not fit the bill for one of them, so I will not deceive others in order to enter the temple. I have a lot of respect for the temple, what it stands for, and therefore, I will not want to play games with it. It is not unusual for one to do as I am doing. I know a buddy of mine did not enter the temple when his sister was getting sealed, even though he was sitting in the lobby because he knew that he was not "worthy" to enter (he had been whacking off to pr0n recently, and addiction for him).

I am simply turning it in because I respect the wishes of others in this situation.

That you apparently believe the temple rituals, yet you put your beer ahead of your participation in the temple. I suspect you don't hold the rituals in high enough esteem to forego the aforementioned beer, no matter how much you claim to respect them.

I wonder how you would explain a similiar decision to your daughter, whose sealing you missed.

the temple experience is cheaper than miller. I'd say its cheaper than PBR too. Maybe its on par with warm swill passed around a trainstation hobo camp.

Well, I hardly ever get to go to the temple. We cannot afford even the gas for the trip. Also, to think that I am never to get my temple recommend back is also rather funny to think as well. Furthermore, this is more about my understandings of what the scriptures say. Scriptures and church leaders should always be in synch with one another, and if not, one must use their "free agency" to decide which comes first. I've made my choice, and I stand by it. You can think what you want about my decisions and you can also pull whatever you want it to imply, but if I didn't respect the temple, then I would be out there telling people what we do verbatum, showing tokens, even telling someone my name, but I don't. A peice of paper signed by two people does not measure one's respect for something else anymore than a marriage license can show how much two people love eachother.
