Without that information, this theory is dead in the water.
True. Let me clarify that im fishing here and have no evidence to back it up.

He did? He share this secret with you? Let me see, 10 years ago he had held no political office, I do not think he had run for the senate, the Olympic deal was not in the works on his radar screen.

Well let me see......NO.

Well let me see again........NO and......None.

Romney probably had plans or intentions to run for the office of president since he was in high school.
Actually, rereading this it makes sense. If Romney associates with a lot of Church members and those members recognize his abilities, it would make sense for them to ask him to do the olympic thing. Infact, if they knew he was gunning for president, it would make sense to offer him the opportunity (if he had the qualifications). Was it President Hinckley's imposing 90 year old frame that made them make the decision so that a Mormon could be President 10 years down the road? Doubt it.
I think Mercury assumes that it is a superbad shady conspiracy. After reading his other posts I am confident that a shady conspiracy is implied. I doubt that is true. But I am quite sure that Romney being LDS and having lots of contacts in Utah, as well as his professional background, helped him get the job. I am sure he did it partly for publicity.
Jason Bourne wrote:Probably. And yes publicity was probably a motivator. No conspiracy or plans by LDS leaders. I doubt they had anything to do with choosing Romney.
