I often think that those who are giddy with such dreams (if such people exist) will find themselves whipped with the chains of a trillion apostates.

You better watch out! I hear Coggins has a taste for being on the giving end of that situation. But then I wouldn't want to gossip. Oh wait! He essentially said so himself!
“I was hooked from the start,” Snoop Dogg said. “We talked about the purpose of life, played Mousetrap, and ate brownies. The kids thought it was off the hook, for real.”

Since Charity is guilty of talking ill about critics in general (or at least an unnamed critic in the context of why some critics are as they are), it is therefore just to blame her for gossiping about a specific someone and furthermore of lying about it? The latter is all I'm trying to defend her against. Sorry, but I'm the kinda guy who likes to make sure that you aren't blamed for things you didn't do, even if you are guilty of other things which are perhaps just as bad.
No disagreement here, absestos. I'm just saying that on the whole I find the conversation between pacman and charity distasteful on the face of it. I would wager something more was up, and that there is something smelly about all of the apologia she is offering. I won't hold against her something I can't prove, but I am also not going to feel sorry for her when what I saw was bad enough. Or maybe this whole thing is getting a little silly.
Time to move on. Really.

It's been a hard lesson, but perhaps it is dawning on Charity that she's not in Kansas anymore.
