I think equally though, practitioners of the priesthood should be required to make similar disclaimers. So, before anointing a home teachee, the home teacher should say, "The following blessing is for entertainment purposes only, no guarantee of healing is either expressed or implied.."

Except they're not charging you anything.....if they are, I'd be suspicious.

I wonder what the saints in St. George, UT would have done if Lorenzo Snow prefaced his promise about the windows of heaven by saying that what he would tell them was "for entertainment purposes only" and no guarantee of rain is either expressed or implied. You know--right before he told them to pay their tithing.

Well, it wasn't for entertainment, the rain came. You can call it a lucky guess or divine intervention. Either way, it wasn't false advertising.

The rain did indeed come and I accept it as a miricle. But then again, the guy who paid the fortune teller money didn't die in his sleep either.

My point is this: how is a court to determine which beliefs are fraudulent and which are not. I'm not too comfortable with what happened to that fortune teller, because it brings up some difficult questions about beliefs, religion and liability. Oh well, at least this case wasn't in America.

I'd hate to see the church be held liable for someone's bankruptcy if someone pays tithing but the windows of heaven fail to pay for the mortage (even though the church never explicitly says that's how it'll happen and even though I've seen the church help with bills when needed).

I think everyone can conclude that all fortune tellers are fraudulent. I think she got into more trouble by the fact that she did absurd things. And maybe the dude wen't to her with the problem (made up) so that he could catch her out and see what crazy stuff she'd do for money. Like one of those undercover things.

NICOSIA, Cyprus - An elderly woman was convicted of fraud Thursday after a Nicosia court ruled she took cash from a man to lift a "deadly spell," using an egg, his briefs and a urine sample.

I doubt this would have much effect on the Church, for Mormons are seldom without their underwear and Stake Patriarchs usually have all their eggs in one basket.

Dangit! I just tried to set this as my new sig line, but it was too long. That was pure gold!

Hi Sethbag

I'm certainly not a computer techie or anything, so someone else might be able to answer this. I have my sig line set to a smaller font using the codes for instance. I am not sure you we are limited by characters or space or lines. I don't know if a smaller font allows for more lines and that might let it fit.

Does anyone know?

Thanx

PS edited to try to show the codes [size=9] then end with bracket / size bracket
I think it would be morally right to lie about your religion to edit the article favorably.
