If the Mormons were a major majority in this country and the tables were turned (Romney supported by the majority and Huckabee part of the perceived fringe sect/cult/whatever) do you think a Huckabee would go down because of "anti-Evangelical" bigotry against him by the majority? I think it's be just the same. Exclusion is exclusion. And the majority is usually going to have some reservations about total support of "the Other".
Yeah I know it's a big counterfactual scenario, but the majority is usually going to show distrust for small heterodox groups....particularly within the relgious realm because religions drives alot of social positions politically.
Just a thought,

Just have to watch out at nightfall for those major majorities with their pitchforks and torches.
Actually with that large of group of LDS, very little would be said about religion. There would be no need. The only real battle would be in getting the Peoples Party nomination. The rest would just be formality.

No.
There is what I call "the big 3", Mormonism, Scientology and JW's who are in the pretty big, well know, but REALLY freaking weird categories. They are fair game for any kind of religious slurs or derogatory comments.
I mean, the religions bring this on themselves. They ARE weird.
If Romney had been a member of the CoC, do you think religion would have mattered?

If Mormonism were the majority there would not be elections, just people in town hall meetings asking for the prophet to be sustained as president of the US.
