I think Merc can be unnecessarily contentious, obnoxious and hostile. All the time. He practically looks for fights. ...but here's the thing. If I were to ask Merc the question: "Merc - do you think that sometimes you are hostile and aggressive?" - I really can't see his reaction being "What - ME?! Why would you say such a thing...?!"
