Bushman states "temples are secret, plain and simple,&a

This was a pretty interesting article.

It seems that almost every normal TBM will always correct a gentile when they talk about the temple being "Secret" instead saying that it is "Sacred, not Secret". This is the line that I was always taught to say to people on my mission when they talked about the temple being Secret. The temple really is Secret though, since I can't go talk about certain things to other members and even my wife except if I am in the Celestial room. Outside the temple, you are not allowed to discuss those things with anybody.

It is refreshing to see people like Bushman admit that they really are Secret. I think the best term to use is "Sacred and Secret".

Bushman brings up some really good other points including why people have a hard time accepting them as normal.

Bushman said the ways members define themselves causes some confusion in the religious world. He recalled how during World War II, LDS military men were proud that their dog tags were marked with neither a "P" for Protestant nor a "C" for Catholic, but were instead imprinted "LDS."

These things are confusing, Bushman said, because they illustrate that members want to be regarded as different, but are upset when others define them as not Christians.

Many times it seems that Mormons want their cake and eat it to. They want to be a unique and a "peculiar people" and have some odd doctrines that really set them apart from Christianity.

Even though I don't agree with all the things Bushman talks about, it is good to see that there is some progress being made, it would be nice though to see General Authorities talk like this so more TBMs would take notice.
