A short anwer from "Incredulous N/T (Non Theists)

Post by _solomarineris »

Most of Atheist (as you may be) figured it out that;
Pimping Christianity is a "Scam" akin to believing in;
"AMWAY', "Aroma Theraphy", "Homeopathic healing" "Alien Abductions",
"Palm Reading" Psychic reading" "Remote Viewing", "Telapathy".
the list can go miles.
Dawkin's, Hitchen's simple message is; There's no verifiable truth behind
Christianity.
N/T's might look like vigilantes to most of you. To me they make sense.
Until somebody comes with hard facts and proves any of this "Truth" stuff.
Until then I will consider it "Snake Oil"
PS: Watch "skeptics guide to universe", "skeptoid.com".

I don't run my business of "Life" over "Dogma".
I am tired of promises.

My "Life" is a charity event.

Actually I don't see Christianity as a scam in the same way you mention those other things. It's interesting to me that so many ex-LDS see all religion as just horrid on this board. I see a lot of beauty in a few different religions. I think it gives relief to those in pain, allows some that struggle to turn their life about, aesthetically pleasing elements, allows some an answer during times of grief... many, many people rely on religion where they don't have to tithe, they don't have to do ANYTHING other than what works for them to make their life (and those about them in some instances) better. I've met MANY Christians that completely ignore most of the Bible, follow the teachings of Christ, and are given some sort of comfort by a belief in God -- so what? I don't care.

I understand that I don't believe in any of the things you listed above. Yet, I DO understand that unjustified beliefs are not really different from the ones I hold. I think there is DEFINITELY a scale and some things creep me out. Yet, I do plenty of things 'cause they just FEEL GOOD or make my life easier. So, if someone else does something that feels good to them (and they hurt no one else) then I don't concern myself with it.

I sooo suck at being an atheist!
