Alcohol as catalyst for visions?

Post by _Mercury »

I have seen before distinct and clear accounts of alcohol used to induce the special witnesses, the Kirtland temple dedication and other occurrences of fasting followed by large intake of alcohol.

Can anyone point me to credible accounts of this happening?

Yes smartarses, I have googled it.

When I was 17-18 my friends and I would work all day without eating. We worked at the amusement park Lagoon, in Farmington, Utah.

Later in the evening, on completely empty stomachs, we sprint around the neighborhood to get our blood pumping followed by slamming 2 shots of vodka chased by 4-6 beers via a beer bong in less than five minutes, followed my more sprinting up and down the streets. You can only imagine how completely sh_tfaced we would get.

While I never had any visions, I am sure I could have been coerced into believing I was experiencing one, especially if I was a devout follower of a cult leader.

There were at least five parties each week and most of the time it was kids from staunch LDS homes who threw the parties whose parents were out of town. Several times it was parents going on a special temple trip to a distant temple like St. George or Idaho Falls.

Man, I wish I lived in your neighborhood.

Dude, working at Lagoon was a like working in a frat house. It was mostly the kids outside of my Bountiful neighborhood, up in Farmington, Kaysville, Fruit Heights, and Layton.

If I were a TBM, I would not let my kids work there!

Other kids would steal kegs, and massive coolers full of beer from the pavilions in the back of Lagoon then shuffle them out the back gate to waiting cars headed for these parties.

It was nutz the things that all of these Mormon kids did!

A favorite hangout to drink was Kay's Cross. Located in Kaysville.

Edit to add: OMG!! Someone blew it up!!! Kay's cross! In 1992... probably one of the residents... at times there would be 40-50 kids down there screaming and carrying on into the late night... Heck yeah there were times we would run for our lives when the cops showed up!
