No. We're never happy. Now dance some more.

No, please don't dance. I'm happy and I'll stay happy if you don't dance, especially with that getup Sammie keeps making you wear.

We have designed one for you, too, Abman. ;)

The Nehor wrote:I think Jesus was tolerant towards people but towards sin he was almost ludicrously severe. While chopping off your hands and plucking out your eyes are metaphors, the metaphors are meant to convey a severity that is fully intended. He offended a lot of people and it wasn't because he was just saying that people should be nice to each other.

I really should read the Bible.... at some point.... in its entirety...

Anyway, in what way was Jesus severe toward sinners? Was it all sinners? Just some? Did he distinguish? Were there times he was harsh with some sinners and not with others?

What does this have to do with the OP? :)

Didn't Jesus say we should love one another? That sounds like it's more than merely being nice...

Jesus was harsh to sinners who were hypocrites such as the Pharisees. He was also harsh to those sinners who were greedy (sell that thou hast and give to the poor, easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter into heaven). Jesus was harsh to those who offended children (millstone around their neck).

Jesus was very forgiving to sinners who were contrite.

It does seem a bit off topic, but I don't mind so much as long as it doesn't dominate the thread the way a hot-button topic like abortion does.

I sooo like Jesus! I don't like hypocrites either! So, he would not support child labor? For sure! He would not support those that used their wealth to prey upon those less fortunate?

What of his teachings could possibly be construed to be linked to Conservatism? I'm certain there's a way, and I'm drawing a complete and total blank...

Looking at someone to lust after them is committing adultery in your heart.

Jesus used violence including a whip to drive out moneychangers.

If your eye offends you, pluck it out (this was figurative in that we should focus on how valuable heaven is, not literally an admonition to self-mutilation).
