TD,

What I want to know first is the source for the jump rope/ball statement and I'd also like to see the schedule you referred to. Wondering if that's the same schedule that I saw. I'll go from there.

Is there a way to donate my old action figures?

Heres our chance dude! Trade them in for a wife or two!

Cool, what's the exchange rate for He-Man and Ninja Turtles figures per wife?

The product of inbreeding and genetic isolation has created a market for tards. I'm sure theres a few castoffs u could take into your stable.

Hi Jersey Girl,

If I recall correctly, there were four different schedules for the various ages of children... here is a quote from the one for children 2-6:

3:00 B 4:00 pm Preschool: It is very important to FLDS parents that their children be well
educated in the necessary skills needed to make a living and become a useful people. Although
this may not be the actual time of day every mother has her children do preschool, it gives a
general idea of what the children are being taught. Math, Phonics, Reading, Science, etc., are
taught to the children. These children are very intelligent and learn quickly. Mothers do not just
dump out toys and leave the children to play. The children are taught activities that enlarge their
horizons. Children become very selfish, self-centered and irritable when they play with toys all
day. An occasional time of throwing balls, working with molding clay, going for a walk,
jumping on a trampoline, swinging, reading nature books, etc., are also needed for the growth of
healthy children. FLDS parents strive to only put the truth before their children, leaving out the
fairy tales, cartoons, television, etc.

So, it sounds like 2-6 year olds can jump on a tramp (although I specifically looked for one on the "tour" and didn't see any, nor did I see any outdoor type of equipment like a swing set). Again, it could be that the tour just missed it). And during their one hour preschool they can have an occasional time to play with clay, go for a walk, or throw balls.

I can't remember exactly where I read that they were allowed jump rope, in addition to throw balls, I thought it was one of the schedules and I'm pretty sure it came from the moms. I'll try to find where I read this.

Edit... found another schedule for 1-3 grades where the mom's say children can jum prope, and play with balls and beanbags during recess, (along with weeding the garden, cracking nuts, reading stories, feeding chickens, etc. etc)

The different grades have a daily planner, and seek to cover all the areas required to be a
good school. Teachers grade students according to the children’s individual needs and abilities.
Students in 1 st through 3rd grades are given recess times and often extra outside time, because they
are full of energy. Instead of just playing with toys, or spending time on the streets, the children are
taught to use their time wisely. Weeding the garden, cracking nuts, reading true stories, feeding the
chickens, visiting the grandmothers, helping with community projects, etc., are some of the things
the children do during their recess times. Jump ropes, balls, bean bags, etc., are used to help children
improve their coordination skills.

We already did the stage production of Alice in Wonderland. Remeber? You played one of the oysters. It was an apt role.
