While her opposition to birth control almost certainly caused more suffering in the abstract and her fetishizing poverty wasn't helpful, I think the more direct objectionable action of hers was diverting millions of dollars of donations she received for funding of nunneries while maintaining hospitals that were, by all accounts, pretty bad. She certainly didn't go to 'em. That money could've instead gone to an organization like the Red Cross that would've had a more direct impact.

If I remember correctly, she refused to go to one of her own hospitals, when she got sick. The care that was available there was good enough for the poor but it wasn't good enough for her. Hypocrisy at its finest.

Agreed. Just as the billions of dollars diverted by the LDS church into a city-block granite mausoleum and a risky downtown business venture should have been directed to humanitarian aid for the downtrodden, the widowed, and the fatherless.

It mentioned in the Penn & Teller video that much of the money went to nunneries and as well into the Vatican bank/hands. Did she actually set up hospitals because in the video I believe all that was mentioned and shown were rather basic looking rooms filled with small cots jam packed against each other for people to lie on. The places were meant for people to die not to be given health care. And family and friends weren't allowed visits. Anyone know any differently, were there hospitals that she had funded?

Kevin, twice previously I asked what it entailed when you said 'you weren't a Christian'. Could you please explain to me why you don't want to respond to that. Is it embarassing, too private, likely to lead to an argument ..why are you so reluctant to explain?

What?!! I always thought Kevin was some sort of super moderate Christian. Maybe he has recently turned the corner, though I doubt he'd succomb to atheism ;)

No I don't think he's a liberal Christian. He seems to often use Christian apologist material. But whatever his position is, I'd either like to know what it is or why he doesn't want to answer questions on the specifics. If he's no longer a Christian then what does that mean. Does it only mean he doesn't attend church or does it mean more than that, such as his views on various Christian beliefs have changed, if so what has changed.
