My experience at university is that most of my professors did not like to be called doctor. Most of them insisted a first name address. However, some of them like to be called doctor. The students would pick up on this and call the doctors doctors and the Bobs Bob.
Dr. Peterson and Dr. Hamblin seem to like to be called doctor. The convention is to call them doctor since they earned that distinction. I call them doctor because I will call anyone doctor who has earned the title and wants the distinction. If any of the other PhDs want that distinction, I will also use it for them.

Well, in the first place, I only refer to him as Dr Peterson when I'm being exceptionally snarky. I usually refer to him as Daniel or Dan.
And in the second place, the others don't use their real names here, so it's kinda awkward to say "Dr The Dude" or "Dr Tarski".
p.s. I do not have a Ph.D. I have a J.D. In the real world, I am only referred to as Dr. [ ] in Germany.
Wow. Just what we need: another JD. Would you care to share anything else about yourself?
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

Yes, I have a better sense of humour than you do. ;-)
But thanks for playing along. The irony really helped my semi-hijack of the thread.
