Re: GRAND COUNCIL OF GODS
An approval/disapproval list to show you? I doubt In 2008. Remember I go back to reading in the 50s. You'll have to trust me that such was common in my area & era. If I run across anything you'll know.
I like your attitude expressed in the last two paragraphs. I think for a TBM you got it pretty together :-) I hope you are in a position of influence.
More like you the better the church. California you said? Still? Area?
Warm regards, Roger

Depends on if teaching is a position of influence. They just moved me back to Gospel Doctrine teacher.
I left California. I'm in Texas now. I like it here. The Church here is nice and strong and filled with good people.

Re: GRAND COUNCIL OF GODS
Reading those claims, and others such as, "...a globe like sea of glass and fire..." (DC130:7) are certainly grand & exciting to imagine! Should a reader do more than that?
A "Globe" could be interpreted in many ways.
Maybe Moses was describing his wife's breast or ass.
Who the heck are we to judge....

Two texts just recently published which are quite phenomenal reads are Michael S. Heiser's Ph.d Dissertation on the Council of the Gods (2004), and Blake Ostler's 3rd volume in his series on Exploring Mormon Thought wherein he deals extensively on this phenomenal doctrine which grooves beautifully with the Prophet Joseph Smith's teachings. And yes, I am planning on producing videos on it right shortly.

Hi "JustMe", an aside, seems we might be familially connected: I was at one time known as "JussMee" ;-) Now I'm just plain old Roger as Christened looooong ago...
Do you have Heiser's book title? How does Ostler deal with, "...this phenomenal doctrine..."?
"Videos"? Youtube? etc? Are you a Media Producer by profession? I can vividly imagine movies of "The War In Heaven" that would Trump "Star Wars". As well "The Council Of Gods" could be a box-office phenomena that would out-do Harry Potter. All the Good vs Evil elements are there... They are GREAT STORIES!!

Comeon, now....
Haven't you seen to inscriptions, hieroglyphs depicting Moses all over the place?
I bet you missed whole bunch of Exodus glyphs also.

Are those depictions of Moses?? WOW! A Provincial Park in my area of Ontario Canada, is called Petroglyph Park. So that's what those stick-folks are all about! You mean some might even be Exo-glyphs too?!?
Who needs astrophysicists when we have Abraham & Moses giving us the whole story!
Thanks for clueing me in, eh!

I have something even better! His website and way to get hold of him and purchase his incredibly fascinating work. There is absolutely no doubt about it, Joseph Smith teaching of the Council of the Gods is certainly one of the finest examples of Biblical Scholarship confirming such a fascinating doctrine.
