They were married in the May of 1843. D&C 132 was produced 2 months later. How could there be sealings prior to July 1843. I believe what bc is saying is that they were only married (not sealed) in May of 1843. The implication being that Joseph didn't even have a revelation sanctioning plural marriage (let alone sealing) when he married Helen. According to D&C 132, recieved later, he committed adultery when he did so.

Timing is everything.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

Well, it might be except Helen was not sealed to Joseph Smith until after his death and at the same time married to Horace Whitney for time only. Horace Whitney was also then sealed for eternity to Elizabeth Sykes (deceased).

So this first "marriage" to Joseph Smith does not seem to be of the D&C 132 variety.

However, if it were, it doesn't bother me in the least.

Oh come on!
Most of the marriages were 'sealed' in one or other temple after his death. As they were for many other marriages contracted before there was a temple at all. He had the wee problem of not having secured Emma's permission for the majority of his 'marriages'.

Other 'wives' married in the same fashion, e.g. Zina Huntington, were looked after by Brigham Young and Heber Kimball after Joseph Smith' death. Sealed to Joseph Smith after his death at the same time as marrying his deputy. BY and HK stood in his stead as regards his 'widows'. And once they were safely esconced in Utah they had no problem breeding for the departed prophet. Inspite of a living husband in Zina's case.

Fanny was not sealed to him until after his death as well; he still got caught with his pants down in a barn with her. Your suggestion does not improve Joseph Smith' situation any.
