Is divorce a good thing or a bad thing?
Why?

Both, Gaz. In my case, in the final analysis, it was the best thing that ever happened to me. But for many others it leads to total disruption, and sometimes suicide.
I'm not sure what you're trying to argue here, but the wreckage of divorce has lead to more family misery and disruption than any "threat" from gay unions. And that's a point everyone has missed in this campaign. The Bullies don't want Gay unions/marriages, yet those unions have contributed nothing to the Family Wreckage we see in society, and the most hypocritical thing of all is that divorce is more common among fundamentalists Christians than any other group in our society.
The hypocrisy here just makes me sick to the stomach.

Divorce can be both a good or bad thing. Why? Because it can. For example, if divorce provides relief to one or more marriage partners, it's definitely a good thing.
The answer to that is no more black/white than the gay issues you're discussing.
Why aren't you answering the questions I posed to you?

Here are my questions to you, Gaz. I'll bold them in this repost.
Okay, Gaz. You said I had it right.
Okay...so according to your logic (I'm being kind) every non-custodial parent on the face of the planet fails to parent their children.
As in...every gay non-custodial parent fails to parent theirs.
Are you insane?
First off, there are gays who have custody of their own children. Gays who are non-custodial parents.
Just like there are hetero's who have custody of their own children and who are non-custodial parents.
What makes you think that it's impossible for a two (separated, divorced, never married) adults to co-parent their child?
Is it impossible for two (separated, divorced, never married) HETERO'S to co-parent their child?
You're dealing in stereotypical thinking Gaz which is non-thinking.

Gaz....
I've asked the following question numerous times on this board without a response... maybe you could help.
A few houses down from me lives a lovely family comprised of two mothers and three children. The lesbian couple is as nice and decent as any two women I know. They have adorable children who are well behaved, kind, and a whole lot of fun.
These women adopted two children who were living in horrific conditions in Siberia. They are fabulous parents who adore their children and take great care of them.
What in the world is going to happen if this couple gets a marriage certificate? How is it going to harm society? Or my neighborhood? Or the Country? Or the world?
Please help me understand your position, (other than the "God said" excuse.
Do you seriously think these children would have been better off in an orphanage living in poverty and without love? ARE YOU KIDDING?
This couple is making a beautiful contribution to our world, giving children a chance at a beautiful life, providing the deep love and care all children need.
Try as I do, I can not grasp what is the big deal here and why you have such vitriol and hatred for wonderful people just because of their private sexual behavior.
It makes no sense to me.
:-(

Hi TD,
It does not have to make sense to Gaz if Gaz said "God said".
These two kind, loving and thoughtful women have made a lifelong commitment not only to each other, but to two children that had no hope otherwise (Gaz wasn't going to adopt them from their nightmarish conditions in Siberia).
Recognition of their lifelong devotion to each other and their children is in order.
It would be nice if we recognized each other as brothers/sisters (or even Children of God) first, rather than compartmentalizing each other into stereotypes, label, ethicity and race.
Hobart,
Thanks for the first hand account. I can't imagine in my wildest dreams, having the presence of mind to pack my wife and kids down to temple squares and hymning at protestors.
- to me, that act alone is about as queer as a 3 dollar bill (not that there's anything wrong with it).

I was visualizing thousands of people holding lit candles aloft and humming "We shall overcome" on the gay side of the street, and hundreds of people holding lit candles aloft and humming "Onward Christian Soldiers" on the other.
Peaceful confrontation shows much more power than loud anger, no matter what side of the question is represented.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.
