Mormon Zeitgeist

Post by _ktallamigo »

Someone posted this link over at MAD. It seems to be quite "over the top."

What do you think?

http://www.mormonzeitgeist.com/alpha/home

Purpose of Mormonzeitgeist.com

1. To document the incredible and true history of the Mormon religion, its numerous wars against Judeo-Christian America and its attempts to overthrow "The Kingdom of America" in accordance with the Mormon prophesies of "The Doctrine of the Constitution Hanging by a Thread" and "Daniel's Prophecy of the Rise of the Kingdom of God in the Last Days".

2. To reveal that Mormons have been involved in the planning and execution of virtually every act of treachery and terrorism against America since 1830.
3. To reveal that the Mormon religion is strategically altering and erasing its true history, in order enhance the appearance that it is a mainstream Christian Church.

4. To expose the gaps, distortions, misinformation, untruths and propaganda being disseminated by the Mormon media machine, which would also be the nation's 12th largest media company, if it were a "real" tax-paying corporation.

Claims to have received death threat from home teachers:

What happened next was stupefying. The beady-eyed Brazilian recruiter looked at me, and without any hesitating for an instant, responded, "You know Lyle, the world is a dangerous place, and if the animal were to somehow escape from the zoo, it could be killed." I was stunned by the implication of what this little man had just said to me. It was clearly meant as a threat and in my own home no less. Now I was angry! I immediately stood up, said, "Gentlemen, this meeting is now over, thanks for coming by", and walked over to the door to open it. And, as my guests stood up and began walking out, I turned to the Brazilian “closer” and said, "You know, you sure did a lot of talking, but you really didn't say very much."
"Brigham said the day would come when thousands would be made Eunuchs in order for them to be saved in the kingdom of God." (Wilford Woodruff's Diary, June 2, 1857, Vol. 5, pages 54-55)

In all fairness to Lyle, is it any more unbelievable than the reciprocal belief that everything good or even useful in the world has happened as part of a plot to advance the church in some way? everything from the discovery of America to the invention of the computer has been explained by TBMs to be the direct hand of God bringing to pass his latter-day work. I remember as a TBM hearing things as outlandish by other TBMs as God "removing" (killing) Rex Lee for being too liberal as a BYU president.

Also, consider, isn't it true that early brethren are on record declaring that either the church is what it claims, or the darkest work the devil has ever manufactured?

So really, Lyle's claims should be pretty believable to a Latter-Day Saint on grounds of what Mormons consider rationality, his arguments here, in fact, should be more believable to LDS than anyone else. Their only "legitimate" rejection a TBM can really have of this is his/her testimony.
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.

LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.

Hi Ktal,

These guys are so rediculous that I would be more inclined to believe the site was set up to fool members into thinking that the church has no viable critics. Does that make sense? Most Anti Mormon lit has had the same smell since I was a kid.

If they are former Mormons, the only character trait they took with them is embellishment and sensationalism.

Over on the MAD board DCP posted that the site reminds him of Mr. Scratch who he calls his "Malevolent Stalker".

That's some pretty tenuous stuff:

A Ryder truck rental was used in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, and the owner and CEO of Ryder trucks at the time was a Mormon stake president living in Florida by the name of Anthony Burns

Ok, that's definitely a stretch.

I mean, if I were planning a bomb plot that involved a rental truck, and I was the CEO of a truck company, the first thing I would do is make sure I used a different truck!

Heck, I would use a competitor's truck so when word got out what kind of a truck it was, people would forever associate "U-Haul" with "Big bomb that killed a lot of people". I could turn them into the "Kool Aid" of rental trucks.

I'd love to see the paper trail from the CEO's office on this. "Mary- Please make available one 14' comfort glide truck for my good friend Tim V. in OK City in May of this year. No charge for Tim, this one's on me. And please make sure truck is insured for total loss. - Cheers, AB"

I just opened up a bag of corn chips and one of them was shaped exactly like Daniel Peterson's head. Maybe I should send it to him, to add to his shrine of narcissism.

It's always all about the corn chips.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.
