Socialism is guaranteed to do one thing - send the country bankrupt much faster. The two extremes are best avoided.

There are many socialisms Ray. My socialism is based in humanity and in the philosophy of humanism---putting the human being at the center of existence. And not self interested profit.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world.

why me wrote:Most americans are capitalist, even if they may not know what the word means. But for america capitalism equals freedom and individual prosperity. Of course, it is all baloney on white bread. It is unfortunate that americans have been brainwashed against the word socialism. A socialist america would be strong, vibrant, coesive, and charitable. But...americans love greed and wealth, and disdain those that are poor. Thus, in america there is much poverty and marginalization, the socalled 'losers'. And they are pitted against the 'successful'.

I used to be a socialist. No more.

Socialism inevitably puts the economic reins in the hands of a elite group of bureaucrats. It only pretends to be economically-democratic.

Liberaltarianism and modest welfare-statism are where it's at. Belgium and the Netherlands FTW.

Socialism is a good theory, that's about all. Some good theories just don't work in the practical world of government and economics. Although I'm now a middle-of-the-road swinging voter, I lean towards conservative government. My ideals, like yours, may in some ways be called "socialist", or libertarian, but in my long experience with politics (in Oz, not the US or elsewhere), as an observer, occasional commentator, and voter, they always end up leaving the country in the red. It's no good feeling charitable when you can't give out any more charity in the form of financial help. So it's a "feelgood" theory not based in enonomic reality.

I remember seeing something about Utah being the land of scams, which, if correct, stands to reason, since Utah was founded by people who believed in a transparent charlatan.

Self-interest isn't evil. It's a fact of life, the consequences of which are to be exploited when possible and mitigated when not.

How does socialism put the human being at the center of existence any more than capitalism does?
