Is it possible for you to post to a thread that doesn't include:
a) A reference to a a trip or conference you attended / will attend? b) A lecture you are giving / will give? c) A reference to something you published? d) A famous (or at least well-known) person you know or have met?
I'm starting to think you have an inferiority complex and that you feel a compelling need to remind us how important you are!
I challenge you: apply the Baloney Detection Kit to the Book of Abraham, from as much of an an unbiased non-mormon perspective as you can muster. Post your results here.

*Bump*
Care to accept my challenge?

No, you're off the hook. A simple mechanical error.
Morrissey wrote:Does it occur to you that that's precisely how many people perceive you? Do you have any comprehension why? Does it matter to you?
Yes, yes, and a bit.
Morrissey wrote:It seems to be a serious enough offense to you, as you [rarely] use it to insult others, that one would think that you'd be concerned (and perhaps a bit mortified) to realize that this is precisely what others think of you.
I don't like it much, but I note that I'm almost always defending, while The Dude was simply being offensive -- and that seems to me to be a significant difference.
I don't think personalities always come across accurately on message boards; I'm quite certain that mine doesn't. But there was little ambiguity in The Dude's gratuitous insult. I hadn't mentioned him. But I responded to him when he insulted me.
Again, Cet animal est très méchant; quand on l'attaque, il se défend.
No problema. For what it's worth, I suspect that you could reduce (perhaps significantly) the number and vociferousness of attacks if you ratcheted down your own language a bit. Yes, you defend when attacked, but it is certainly not accurate to say that you only counter-attack. You too have a bit of a penchant for the attack.
