The wall painting in the background was the perfect backdrop to how I viewed being a corporate styled, rigid, Northeamerican missionary imparting my Northeamerican ideals in the guise of a religion.
Oh, here are the contents of my first apartment. Sweet!

Maybe once or twice on my mission, I wondered why conversion to the gospel so often required adoption of the norteamericano culture. It seemed like the "successful" leaders were the ones who were the most skilled at imitating American management style.
ETA: your first apartment is nicer than almost all of the places I lived. At least you had running water.

We apostates just never really understood the gospel plan did we? Leaving home for two years, offering up personal sacrifices and all. Luckily Simon did, (understand the gospel) and his ability to dodge any real service to his church, but then make up for it by cruising internet chat sites in "defense" of Mormonism is proof of that.

I tend to see the glass "half empty" Runtu. Yes, running water -- trickling water really, was something to be grateful for. Plus I did have two-three minutes of hot water in the Califone, before the water ran out.
