Interesting revelation Simon. I've been on the internet actively since 1994. Does that give me experience required to have the same sort of opinions you possess?

I don't think you understood the joke. I was asking jskains to leave the apologetics to the pros, ala Will Schryver to me. Of course jskains and I are different: we live in different places, we have different parents, we react differently to situations, etc.

by the way: it sure is interesting to see this early admission that you have "been an Internet message board denizen for many years." That would certainly seem to clash with your claims about never posting on MAD/MDD, etc.

You might be new to the Internet, but forums have been around in one form or another, since before the Internet began. For example, in the late 1980s/early 1990s I was a member of a few BBS systems. In the late 1990s/early 2000s I joined the Something Awful Forums, though I haven't posted there for a long time now. Of course, you know I was a member of ZLMB in (I believe) 2002/3. I took a fairly long hiatus from message boards after ZLMB's collapse, and now here I am at MDB (though I do occasionally post over at Something Awful -- hilarious site!) And, if you're interested, here are the rankings of message boards based on activity and amounts of users.

So, as you can see, my statement was very truthful.

Simon, it's plainly obvious that you look down on jskains. Yes, perhaps your comment was tongue-in-cheek, but as Joyce wrote, "There's many a true word spoken in jest." It's clear that, for whatever reason, you don't like him, view him as "hostile," etc.

No. I view him as more emotional than I am. That is not an insult.

Simon, who are you kidding? You said he was prone to "knee-jerk hostility" and suggested that he ought to be subject to harsher moderation.

I had just come from the Something Awful forums, where moderation is extremely harsh. And to get banned is to lose $10 (the cost of signing up). There were specific sub-forums that had specific rules. It was all a well oiled machine -- and it had to be with 15,000 members and 117,000,000 topics. I believed in moderation, and to a large extent, still do.

But I understand better how MDB works. Like you, I've "changed my mind."

Yeah, it's interesting that you participate on those "Something Awful" forums, Simon. They seem like they'd be highly conducive to the Spirit.

Oh yeah, that place is totally evil, what with thread topics such as: Show off your REAL desktop: The Next Generation, and History: Wait, what? This really happened?, and Geeky Star Wars Loser Thread Episode IV: My best friend was a plush Ewok.

So, you're saying that you feel the presence of the Holy Ghost as you browse those forums? If President Monson were to spend a view minutes surfing the Something Awful forums, what do you think his reaction would be?
