Again, I heartily agree with Chris here. My response to Mudcat in post #12 of that same MD thread would be that various people draw different lines in attempting to follow our Exemplar in Mark 2:17.Noted BC.
I will stand by my position that the general impetus of the forum seems to be directed at cutting the legs out from under faith in Christ, God, etc. in my opinion, the majority of posters here seem to want healing from their past belief in God rather seek healing through belief in God.
If my statement sounded harsh, there isn't much I can do about that. You and others may see the forum here as "sick bay" of sorts.
I do wish you and they success in your endeavors here.
Thanks Mudcat. I do understand and even appreciate and generally agree with the negative assesment of some of the denizens of this board. Afterall, to oppose the LDS Church in the fashion many of them do means one is intrinsically a liar and a yellow journalist hence my Mark 2:17 reference.
Yet the MDD also has one or two onerous citizens of it's own and frankly, that board does engage in censorship of valid LDS topics while hypocritically allowing other antiChristian messages to be communicated. Allowing an avatar depicting the visage of a publically known and famous sexual predator who advocated for sexual predation of children being one small example since we've been on the subject of memes.
I am not stopped in either case though as I grew up in an era when the Church taught (and still teaches in other ways If I recall correctly) that we are to be in the world but not of it. Being in the world does make it more difficult to behave and I certainly do stoop and stumble from time to time because of it, but if you want your message to get across or to learn how to communicate in difficult and complex circumstances or defense the strongest arguments, one has to leave the crib (or the ivory tower of tenure) from time to time.
