Newsweek and The Mormons Musical

Post by _truth dancer »

Anyone read this week's Newsweek article, The Mormon Moment?

Mitt is on the cover, well, sort of. His face is photo-shopped onto the body of an actor in the musical, The Mormons.

The article is thought provoking and I thought fair and balanced. LOL! The article discusses some factors in the LDS church that help people be successful, acknowledges that the LDS church is basically a 30 billion dollar corporation, and does mention the quirks and oddities that keeps the church being viewed as a cult.

In other news, The Mormons, is likely to take home some Tonys tonight and if you aren't going to make it to NY anytime soon and want a sneak peek, here is your chance!

:-)

Here ya go, Gramps: Mormons Rock!

PS - The photo Newsweek used for the cover (seen here [Shades, bring back image hotlinking!]) has generated a bit of controversy (see here), but has been defended by McKay Coppins, a highly annoying MormonTimes & Deseret News contributor, who contributed (quite heavily, it seems to me) to the Newsweek piece (see here). I wonder if he also came up with the snappy title ("Mormons Rock!"??? Seriously? Ugh.).
