Local TV news mentioned this Manhattan media blitz on the news last night with mega-Broadway signs, 11,000 plus cab advertisements, plus some other stuff. They left out the free ham on bagels which may have been a draw.

The thinking is convert them while the iron is hot.

Money buys the best marketers in the world, so yes this is a good PR strategy for the LDS church.

To me, it speaks of a man-made organization.

Around here, the Methodists have ads that basically say something to the effect... if you are hurting or need help we are here; we welcome you regardless of your situation, struggles, or sorrows.

The ads speak to the humanness in all of us and recognizes that many people could benefit from the care and support of others, and God.

On the other hand, the LDS church is spending millions and millions and millions of dollars trying to get people to think of their church as normal.

It all seems so strange.

I guess my idea of holiness is not about spending a fortune on advertising, but perhaps more like giving help to those in need.

Hmmm...$88 million dollars is the amount of donations that the Church 'passed' onto humanitarian needs in 2010.
I wonder how this compares to the amount of tithing they spent on advertising?

Members, when you are cleaning your Church toilets just remember that the money you are saving the Church in Janitorial salaries is being spent EXACTLY how Christ would spend it...
