No, I would like to know what your thoughts are regarding the OP.
Okay. Here goes:
My SIL is married to a Polynesian and I've spent time in Hawaii a couple of times.
I wish to travel the world over, and seeing I have never been. I'm jealous.
There is something really great about the people of island cultures. What I really like about them (at least, the people I've met) is their warm friendship, deep sense of tradition, and easy going attitude. In particular, I've noticed they tend to gravitate toward practical and important matters, such as maintaining strong bonds with family members no matter what.
That's been my experience too.
I think the LDS church is very lucky to have such a strong presence on the Islands.
Considering how weird us Mormons are we're quite lucky, as you put it, to have a presence anywhere. seriously. I don't know how strong the presence is "on the islands" though. Never been, don't know a whole lot about the presence.
Their influence is something the church desperately needs.
Indeed. As I said, the Church is lucky to have presence anywhere among anyone, in a way. It desperately needs presence if it wishes to exist.
They bring the church some balance and color.
Is that a shot at their relative size or the Church's uniform skin color? But, yes they bring so much to the Church in my view, and in my view what they bring is more than balance and color even if they do bring that too.
The church has a video showing a recent celebration on their website: https://LDS.org/youth/video/laie-hawaii ... n?lang=eng
I must say, good for them.
I'm sure its cute...I just haven't viewed it as yet. I hope you'll forgive.
