I dunno. Militant blacks are pretty keen on blacks marrying blacks. This would be a prime occaision for Romney to bring up Obama's past and his past associations. I would not hesistate to play the Terrorist/Marxist/Pedophilia card against Obama.

Oh, that's right! You're an idiot.

It's been a while since I read one of your posts. I'd forgotten that you are a complete moron.

The race card does work against the church IMHO, but it would be pretty weak against Mitt Romney personally.

Thanks for the link to that letter, Seth. I hadn't seen it before.

I think it is more than mildly embarrassing.

But good for George Romney.

It does give Mitt a good answer to the issue.

The question is whether he will use it.

I think the nation would cheer to hear the response that his Dad went against this "personal" directive on official Church stationary.

But what would the Mormons think?

Especially the Mormons in the top floors of the COB?

Similarly, I think Mitt should respond to the (unlikely) question about the Aaronic Priesthood Manual that he disagrees with that sentiment, and that he had already sent a certified letter to Church Headquarters (waves letter in air) to register his position.

These are winning answers . . . for a presidential election.

All the Best!

Even considering the time in which it was written that letter is embarrassing. No wonder Frank Robinson said he was angry about the attitude people in Utah had towards him when he was a minor league baseball player in Ogden. Did Utah have segregation laws just like they had in the South?

What you call "incapable" I call the feeling of "it's not worth it."

You're like a three year old coming to me trying to argue that the earth is a square. I'm not going to bother arguing your infantile world view.

I fully trust you count that as a win. Any three year old would.

If Mitt himself were courageous on the race issue, it might not be a problem for him. He wasn't. If he were, he would have defied Salt Lake's racist directives when he was Stake President in the 70s and conferred the priesthood on men of African descent. If he disagreed with the racist policy, he should not have served in a position of prominent authority within the organization, enforcing and perpetuating the racist policy. He could have taken a courageous stand to do what is right, and let the consequence follow. But instead he just "followed orders" and gave of his time, talent, and resources to the church that continued to teach that black people were descendants of Cain, cursed with a dark skin because of their lack of valiance in the pre-existence, etc. Romney was, and remains, a coward.
