I was told as a young Mormon that you were "common judges in Israel" and you had "the spirit of discernment". You KNEW as a right of office who was lying and telling the truth. Wow!

You have a fundamental misunderstanding there:

37 But as you cannot always judge the righteous, or as you cannot always tell the wicked from the righteous, therefore I say unto you, hold your peace until I shall see fit to make all things known unto the world concerning the matter. (D&C 10)

There is no "right of office" which gives bishops discernment infallibility.

D&C 107:

68 Wherefore, the office of a bishop is not equal unto it; for the office of a bishop is in administering all temporal things;

69 Nevertheless a bishop must be chosen from the High Priesthood, unless he is a literal descendant of Aaron;

70 For unless he is a literal descendant of Aaron he cannot hold the keys of that priesthood.

71 Nevertheless, a high priest, that is, after the order of Melchizedek, may be set apart unto the ministering of temporal things, having a knowledge of them by the Spirit of truth;

72 And also to be a judge in Israel, to do the business of the church, to sit in judgment upon transgressors upon testimony as it shall be laid before him according to the laws, by the assistance of his counselors,[b] whom he has chosen or will choose among the elders of the church.

73 This is the duty of a bishop who is not a literal descendant of Aaron, but has been ordained to the High Priesthood after the order of Melchizedek.

No one can ever be "convicted" by a "Church court", or "disciplinary council" without hard evidence.

D&C 102:

17 Those councilors who draw even numbers, that is, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12, are the individuals who are to stand up in behalf of the accused, and prevent insult and injustice.

18 In all cases the accuser and the accused shall have a privilege of speaking for themselves before the council, after the evidences are heard and the councilors who are appointed to speak on the case have finished their remarks.

19 After the evidences are heard, the councilors, accuser and accused have spoken, the president shall give a decision according to the understanding which he shall have of the case, and call upon the twelve councilors to sanction the same by their vote.

20 But should the remaining councilors, who have not spoken, or any one of them, after hearing the evidences and pleadings impartially, discover an error in the decision of the president, they can manifest it, and the case shall have a re-hearing.

Darrick,

It is obvious that you are still hurting from some of these issues. Have you thought about going to a counselor or group therapy?

Professional individual and group counseling sessions are covered under most insurance plans, including Medicaid/Medicare.

I'm not being condescending. I honestly think that you should consider this, so that you can truly heal.

I haven't been following your posts (I have some vague understanding that you are angry at Mormon women) however reading your post I don't understand what it is you want.

daheshism wrote:Mormon bishops....HOW am I going to believe you have any Spirit from God?

They don't

HOW am I going to believe ANYTHING you say?

You shouldn't blindly accept authority. You are responsible for yourself and whatever you believe.

HOW am I going to have any respect for you at all?

You don't need to.

So given all this, you don't have to dwell on the past you can move on. However if you don't understand the mistakes you may have made in Mormonism, that is you don't appreciate you are responsible for your choices and beliefs not some authority you may continue to make the same mistakes.

Darrick--

Ray is a former bishop, and one of the finest men I have had the privilege of getting to know over the past 5 years. He is a wonderful resource. Please listen to what he has to say.

If everyone in the Church could have the opportunity to have a bishop like Ray, they would know how an LDS ward is supposed to be run.

Jason also falls into this category. Maybe he can weigh in here as well.

Anyway derrick...

I feel for you.

In the past the fact that I had really really really good insurance in the past screwed me over quite a bit (only half of the story) I popped the piss test multiple times and I know that if the medical staff would have reported the u/a results things would have gone a ray.

They all got what was coming to them anyhow.

Its just the sad fact that hospitals double bill insurance companies then send a guy a letter saying that he was over billed; mean while it never gets reported to the insurance companies.

In Utah this sort of thing happens all the time; with Stake Presidents and the like knowing full well what is happening.
