When Joseph Smith was killed he had a gun on him and used it to defend himself and his fellows.
LDS officials until recently tried to hide the fact Joseph Smith had this gun on him when he died.
This gun is in the Slc church museum and is now put on display occasionally.
Joseph; the man without a gun.

Re: Joseph; the man without a gun.
Some key questions about that fateful night in Carthage:
1. Did Joseph have a gun which he fired blindly down a corridor at an oncoming mob?
2. Did Joseph know that the crowd contained only adult males?
(let me say at this point, in his position I would have done exactly the same - but then, I'm not Gods Prophet)
3. Did Joseph adhere to the Word of Wisdom during that night?
4. Did Joseph keep his temple committment to wear his garments?
5. Why did the mob want to kill him?
a. Because he was a philanderer with their daughters and wives? or
b. Because of any other Mormon belief?
Try and complete questions 1 - 4 only using 'Yes' or 'No' answers.
