Does the LDS church promote the thoughts of Jesus Christ.

Post by _karl61 »

Does the LDS church promote the thoughts of Jesus Christ, as reported in the gospels or Joseph Smith.

early christian teachings - the love of money is the root of all evil. Sell all that you have and follow God. Give everything to the community and take only what you need. Don't think about tomorrow but only today and rely only on God for the things that you need. Don't put trust or time into things that people can steal or that can rust.

from what is written on this board it seemed that Joseph Smith wanted to obtain things as property was signed over to him, or maybe things being signed over to his name were in his view being given to the Church.

I think the Church accurately promotes it’s understanding of the gospels. Now, if the question is, does the Church accurately exegete the gospels? I can’t answer that.

Actually, according to 2 Peter 1:19-21, the true Church does not rely on exegesis.

No and no. The LDS Church does not comprehend the teachings of Jesus Christ found in the Bible, The Book of Mormon, and neither do they teach competently what is found in the Doctrine and Covenants nor the Pearl of Great Price. They have lost the key of knowledge to even understand what Joseph Smith taught about the gospel.

To take no thought for you life WHILE you seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness is a commandment that will put you on the straight and narrow path to come unto Christ. It is impossible otherwise and that is why the Gentiles could never do it. Once you have been visited of God with the promise of the Father and have the real and not pretended to gift and power of the Holy Ghost it will teach you all that you should do.

If you are fortunate enough to have fellowship with other saints then a United Order is appropriate to see to the welfare of the interests of your (saintly) neighbor. In other words it is NOT intended that you take no thought for your life for as long as you live. This is rightly dividing the word of truth and you cannot do that unless you DO what is written and realize the actuality of it all by first hand experience. Otherwise you can only guess and make up stuff.
And that is what the LDS and all other churches of the world do. Please themselves in pride.

As far as it is translated correctly. For all you can claim, this verse might actually mean that church elders should be married to one wife, of good repute in the church..., oh, wait. Never mind.
