MDB's Annual Silly Season Coming to a Close

Post by _sock puppet »

Good day, MDB'Relief Society.

I thought I'd drop by. Summer's just about over, and so too is the MDB silly season. It's a yearly tradition here. If you don't happen to have a calendar, you can realize summer has arrived because the heat causes the TBMs and the "moderates" to overheat, cry foul as if in a chorus, demand new rules, etc. I find it insufferable, if not suffocating.

In looking over the board's topics over the last 3 months, I see very little of threads discussing Mormon history. Too bad.

I see that this year, new mods were anointed. Good choice in mods, but did that really placate the resident cry-babies and whiners? No, they trotted off to their own, new board owned by liz. Only whiners need apply. Their official cheer must be, "that's not fair." Altogether now ... . They even have ttribe, the poster child of board whiners. I believe that says it all about that new board.

The mid-summer bomb (bally-hooed FAIR 'game changer') this year was Don Bradley's presentation on the Kinderhook Plates. I almost attended, but a miscue between zeezrom and I about the possibility of lunch caused me to shuttle the pilgrimage to SLC. Game changer? Nope. The new historical facts seem to have merely made the debate about those plates showing JSJr to be a fraud or a prophet more acute than it had been before. But the integrity that Don brought to the FAIR slot was refreshing, given the gaping hole that had been there for the prior year.

More bemoaning that there's not enough TBMs, the siren call as summer began that resulted in more cops on the beat but they yet could not head off a TBM-defection. (Well, maybe there is a god after all.)

Maybe liz could invite stemelbow to her new board, and he could bitch there about MDB'Relief Society. stem, just click your heels together and say 'there's no place like home'. Do it three times, and just maybe liz will extend you that invitation.

Later.

Hi Sock!

Good to see you.

Your post about sums it up. TBM's leaving and odd people showing up. I'm waiting for the next shoe to drop. :)
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

Quasi is right---it's good to see you around, sock. You've been missed.

Hey nice to see ya, whimperer whiner about stem. All I do is point out the hypocrisy or lack of respect from posters here. Funny thing is its nearly the majority of threads here that talk about the poor behavior of Mormons or LDS posters from elsewhere. but somehow I get all the complaints? Let's be reasonable sock puppet.

Here's how it goes--some MD poster complains about an LDS person, like DCP, for instance. I point out the poor behavior of the poster who complains about DCP and then I get tagged this dude who complains about others. Wait a sec. Whose complaining about others first?
Love ya tons,

Who complained about others first? Well, in the Mormon context it began like this:

Joseph Smith History, verse 19 wrote:I [JSJr] was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all awrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight.

So who complained first? Was it your elohim or your jehovah? Or did JSJr just make this BS up? Your choice. Take your pick, stem, and choke on it.

Do you really envision a reference to a long past on Joseph Smith is somehow helping your case? Remember, you're complaining about me. You're whimpering about me. As i said, all I do is notice the complaints people offer about LDS folks and comment how so many are opposed to the LDS folks.

Were you not the one that wanted to start going back to determine who first complained about others?

In the Mormon context, you get--

A-elohim

B-jehovah

C-JSJr concocted it from thin air.

Take your pick, stem. You wanted to go in search of who started complaining. Now you want to arbitrarily put a limit on how far back we can go in search of the answer about whom started it? Really?

Duh, stem! Can't you see it? This one solitary statement supposedly by Jesus or whomever necessitates 180 years of abuse, massacre, murder, assassination, and forced exile for the Mormons.

Critics and anti's have been right all along.

Anyone can see it, stem, why can't you?

When one starts down the slippery slope of time into the past, to determine who 'first' started a fracas, it is arbitrary to stop at any point and not continue going back, mining for the oldest, relevant evidence. The claim was that there would not need to be Mormon apologetics if not for critics. That begs the question of who criticized whom in the first place. That was, according to Mormon scripture, an unnamed Personage commonly taught to be jehovah. According to JSJr, the only other Personage present when that was uttered was elohim, unless JSJr as a Personage was talking to himself (contrary to a fair reading of the text) or he just made this crap up, out of his imagination and thin air.

So, critics 'didn't start the fire, it's been burning since' the telling of the first vision.
