The scripture verses that really clicked for me, and nailed the coffin shut on Mormonism were
Phil 2:5-8 and John 1:12,13.

The Phillipians verses in context is on humility but have a deep doctrinal message on God becoming man for us. The John vs shattered all LDS indoctrination that all men are literal children of God, and showed me that man has a true choice to receive His free gift, and can become a child of God through adoption.

How do you correlate Phillipians 2:5-8 with Rev. 3:21; 20:12, 13; Rom 8:16, 17? All these scriptures are true. How can God's love be unconditional and his gifts, from Genesis to Revelations, from 1 Nephi to Moroni 10, so conditional?

Black holes would be be equated with outer darkness. They are God's garbage dump for all his unworthy and rebellious children. Although the presence of a singularity is going to make any weeping or gnashing of teeth kind of hard to do.

It's ultimate "time-out" for misbehavior. Once you cross the event horizon there is no more opportunity for repentence. All you apostates have been warned!

Celestial, Terrestrial Commonalities

Post by _drjackcv »

I asked previously
what are the characteristics that Celestial and Terrestrial souls have in common? [1.] Both are honorable (D&C 29:36; 76:75). [2.] Both receive the Son.

Can anyone add to those two? Thanks.

Since then, I've found two more:

3. "First, all people are happier and feel more self-respect when they can provide for themselves and their family and then reach out to take care of others. " President Henry B. Eyring, GC 4/2011

4. "ALL men by nature desire to know" the truth. Aristotle, Metaphysics, Bk 1, Part 1, Sentence 1

These two types of intelligences are regarded as righteous by God and Christ. They will together inherit the earth during the Millennial reign of Jesus Christ. Telestial and Perdition are wicked, and will be recycled to another place during that 1,000 years, then separated permanently from each other and from us thereafter.

My goal is to make membership in the Church of Jesus Christ joyful and uplifting for both Celestial and Terrestrial souls, uncomfortable for the wicked, and safe from predators.

In order to do that, it seems to me that we must have a clear understanding of "people as they are" (BY, JD 8:367) in order to judge righteous judgement (Jn 7:24).

Does anyone know any other characteristics shared by both Celetial and Terrestrial souls?

They are, obviously, comfortable with different things, different concepts. Receiving the Son with gratitude for His Atonement and for implementing the Plan of Salvation is one thing, desiring to be like Him is quite another. Loving peace is one thing, loving discipline of self another. Inviting all to come unto Christ is one thing, weeping when some choose righteous, Terrestrial paths seems to me un-Christlike. (Mos 7:39, 40)
