That's funny, Gadianton....Who are German debate opponents? What is the nature of this debate you reference?

Seriously, Buffalo, what is this whole "kill count" fixation?
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

Not fixated. I'm just saying, when your group has exported greater net persecution than it has imported, what you're left is with is a persecution trade surplus. Ergo, persecutor, not persecuted. Econ 101.

I'm genuinely curious about this. I try to pay attention to LDS missionary deaths in the news, and I've yet to see a case in the thirteen years since I began studying the church where a missionary's religion was a relevant factor in his or her death. There have been at least three murders of missionaries in that time frame (Morgan W. Young in 2006, Adele Atchley in 2002, and Jonathan Philip Barrett in 1999), but none of them have been linked to religion. Most deaths on the mission field occur due to car accidents, health issues, or other reasons that could happen to anyone.

There certainly could be cases that I've missed though, and I know little about 20th century missionary deaths.

Are we still waiting for maklelan to support this statement with something factual from the last 100 years?

Yes. I don't think there are any examples though. I understand why he thinks it's happening. You can get the general impression that it's happening in church. I know in my experience certain Sunday school teachers really drove home the persecution narrative. When I was a TBM I seriously thought that the LDS church was the most persecuted religion in America!

Mormons are no more persecuted than a homeowner is "persecuting" a burglar by shooting him, or cockroaches in your kitchen are being "persecuted" when you use bug spray. The deceptive cult of Joseph Smith is not entitled to claim the name of Christ Jesus or to fool people into thinking their god has anything to do with the God of the Bible. Since Mormonism is not a legitimate religion there is nothing to persecute. Early Christians were persecuted but in the name of Jesus. Mormons trying to claim similar persecution when they have experienced minor inconveniences in the name of the glass-looker Joe Smith is laughable.
Jude 4: For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.
