"We all know the Church is a big, heavy influence in the state in everything and most particularly alcohol."

The complaint also alleges that two Church representatives,

"...warned lawmakers that if they did not agree with that Church's support of SB 314 [a big alcohol bill] there would be repercussions."

I'm so glad the Church is politically neutral...

They'll probably have to take the case outside of Utah. Too many Mormon judges, juries. Good luck getting anyone to testify against the Mormons. On top of that the Mormon church has an entire floor of TBM attorneys commanded to protect the interests of the church.

The Mormon church has always had a hand in everything political in this State. They always have, they always will. They have nearly limitless bank accounts.

So I say good luck with that DABC. Might as well make Utah a dry state.

What surprises me is that Utah isn't dry already. The only thing that keeps it from "dryness" is the revenue that flows in.

I wonder how much of the state budget is mingled with/dependent on the church? Besides the public nature of all votes (wherein the nosy folks in the COB would know how each individual voted), what private contributions does the church fund that neither party wants the public to know about? Another reason to open the books!
