Until this thread, Some Schmoe, I thought you were perfect. My bubble is burst.
hehe
My brother is a big Star Trek fan. It's kind of my duty to make fun of it because of him (after all these years, I can't remember why, but there it is).
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.
Mormonism is like the star wars prequels. George Lucas is like Joseph Smith, making it up as he goes along, using special effects to try to cover up the poor sctipt and contradictions. apologists are like fan fiction writers, trying to fill in the gaps and resolve the contradictions without being officially sanctioned.

If you haven't yet, you should read Joseph Campbell's "Hero with a thousand faces" (George Lucas and J. Campbell were close friends).
Hero stories are universal to human culture. They all seem to follow the same pattern of a social outcast who goes on great adventures to return to his people as a hero.
Major religions follow this pattern as well. They're never written as well as "Star Wars", though (except maybe the Bhagavad Gītā).
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.
