Retrofitting "polygamy" to JSJr's earliest known adultery

Post by _sock puppet »

LDS introduction to D&C 132 wrote:Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Nauvoo, Illinois, recorded 12 July 1843, relating to the new and everlasting covenant, including the eternity of the marriage covenant, and also the plurality of wives (see History of the Church, 5:501–7). Although the revelation was recorded in 1843, it is evident from the historical records that the doctrines and principles involved in this revelation had been known by the Prophet since 1831.

Actually, the LDS Church might need to modify this to read: "..., it is evident from the historical records that the doctrines and principles involved in this revelation had been known by the Prophet at the time historical records, now known or hereafter discovered, show was his first sexual experience outside his marriage to Emma."

It seems that this, and the retrofits to the first vision to make an angel into one diety and then later into two dieties, shows that the LDS Church will do anything to Save Joseph.

Even JSJr claimed god called the prior dalliances JSJr's transgressions for which, by the time of this revelation, were forgiven him.

D&C 132:60 wrote:Let no one, therefore, set on my servant Joseph; for I will justify him; for he shall do the sacrifice which I require at his hands for his transgressions, saith the Lord your God.

That's right. God's punishment to JSJr for his transgressions is to justify JSJr by commanding him to be with yet more ladies.

But LDS Inc either did not believe those words and/or nevertheless needs to whitewash this by giving JSJr a revelatory phone booth time machine, a la Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, and twist time inside out.

It's a marvelous work and a wonder.
