Quoting Mormon Prophets and Apostles

Post by _sock puppet »

Mormons point to 'modern revelation' as a key distinguisher of the LDS Church vis-a-vis other religions that claim God once spoke to man and yielded the Bible.

Yet it seems some Mormons really chafe at the notion that their prophets and apostles are quoted except in a strictly faith promoting ways.

Others, like Mike Ash, argue for the demotion of what current prophets and apostles say below that of what those of old said.

So what's the value of this 'current revelation' if the preeminent word of God is already given and canonized?
