1. Would a good Mormon vote for a candidate or support a party in which 90-100% of the positions in which the LDS Church has doctrine were in opposition to that doctrine?
Answer: No.
2 Would a good Mormon vote for a candidate none of whose stated positions were in opposition to LDS doctrine but yet upheld a party leadership who favored positions that were again 90-100% in opposition to LDS doctrine.
Answer: No.
Do you support, affiliate with, or agree with any group or individual whose teachings or practices are contrary to or oppose those accepted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?
Q.E.D.
Simple a priori assumptions. In reality both political parties have elements that support and oppose the doctrine and teachings of the LDS Church. Plus to be a democrat or republican does not mean one supports 100% of the parties positions. For example the stake president I had that was a democrat certainly did not support the pro choice or gay marriage side of things. Yet there were other elements of the democratic party that he believed more appropriately reflected his views ( including some that were formed based on his religion as he relates it to me) and thus his party selection.
Really BC not everything is as black and white as you think it.
BC. The proof of what I pin on you is in this thread. You said above you would ex LDS Democrats,
That is the usual remedy for those who oppose the Church yes.
LDS Democrats do not oppose the Church BC. Get of your apostate political hobby horse.
that you have been told not to ask such question in TR interviews
I have never been told this.
You said this:
When I give a TR interview, I generally don't consider such things because I've not been directed to.
So perhaps I misunderstood that you were told not to ask such thing. My apologies. Still it seems to me that you would ask it gladly if you could.
I ask the actual official question which I have quoted above and which damns all Democrats because it relegates them to lying or ignorance (as in a man cannot by saved in ignorance).
No it does not relegate them to lying accept int he twisted little world you live in.
we crow about how you would call out GAs who are democrats.
I simply answered the question of what I would do. You're the one who is starting to sound more shrill than any bird.
Hardly shrill. Just tired of such self appointed purgers of what THEY think the Church should and should not be. Again you are as much a cafeteria Mormon as I am.
I once thought you were intellectually honest but you apparently are not because you're unwilling to compare LDS doctrine with political position like most of the rest.
Wrong BC. I just don't have such a narrow view as you. I have noted time and time again that I lean strongly towards a republican platform. I just believe there is honest variation within one's political views that do not conflict with the LDS Church at all. I don't make it a litmus test for ones TR worthiness. You do, or would if you could. This seems to me to be in direct conflict with what the Church teaches. I think you would would be in deep trouble if you regularly publicly pushed and acted on such views.
