They may be venting their frustration with recent debate at CAF. When I added Ethan Smith as a willing collaborator, there was indeed an earthquake and a deep crack in their defenses opened up. But somehow, through a wild gymnastic that I cannot fathom, they suddenly reappeared in their own alternate universe.

I am following Blixa's advice to read Anne Perry. I was reading her a year ago, but just got my stomach full of 21st century characters in the nineteenth century. Now I understand the author better, I am trying again.
