6 Q. What are we to understand by the book which John saw, which was sealed on the back with seven seals?
A. We are to understand that it contains the revealed will, mysteries, and the works of God; the hidden things of his economy concerning this earth during the seven thousand years of its continuance, or its temporal existence.

Meaning since the fall of Adam.

Obviously DarthJ was speaking as an ignoramus.

Nightlion:

If God reckons time according to the rotation of Kolob, and that rotation is equivalent to 2,000 years on Earth, how is it possible for there ever to be a state that is not temporal, since from God's calculation, time is always happening?

It is at or near this point that it would help to have a knowledgeable scholar of the classical world explain what "tempus" means, and whether that word is related to "temporal."

But I guess we'll have to settle instead for an incompetent hack. Like Kishkumen, for example.

Here ya go adding ignoramity to ignoramity.
It speaks of this earth and nothing about Kolob or anything else in the Kokaubeam.

If you have to resort to getting all learny about it. Temporal is a limited amount of time as opposed to eternity. In the Book of Revelation the Angel swears that there is time no longer.

Revelation 10
5 And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven,
6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:

But in the Book of Abraham God tells Abraham that He---God---does keep track of time.

Abraham 3:4

And the Lord said unto me, by the Urim and Thummim, that Kolob was after the manner of the Lord, according to its times and seasons in the revolutions thereof; that one revolution was a day unto the Lord, after his manner of reckoning, it being one thousand years according to the time appointed unto that whereon thou standest. This is the reckoning of the Lord’s time, according to the reckoning of Kolob.

So how can there be "no time" if the Lord uses the revolutions of Kolob to keep track of time? How can there be "the Lord's time" that is equivalent to a set number of years on Earth if there is "no time" in eternity?

P.S. Pardon my error that a day on Kolob is 2,000 Earth years instead of 1,000 years.

Times and seasons. Remember the time of your youth? And now there is no more such time. This is the time to prepare to meet God. Soon there will be time no longer.
Seven thousand years just have to end some time ya know. Then that time is over.

I only point out where you are purposefully being ignorant, staring at the Sun and denying that it shines sort of thing. Not real ignorance.

You are equivocating between a specific period of time and the existence of time in general.

If God keeps track of time, then time always exists. Time is always happening, even from God's point of view.

In the early 19th century, the word "temporal" could be used to mean pertaining to mortal life. http://1828.mshaffer.com/d/search/word,temporal

However, because Joseph Smith taught that time exists in eternity (the Lord is reckoning the passage of time according to the revolutions of Kolob), and God is part of the universe (instead of the originator of it), the attempted distinction between "temporal" and "eternal" does not make sense in Mormonism.

Don't blame me that Joseph Smith left plot holes in his stories.
