Bedtime stories

Post by _zeezrom »

Tonight, I tried something different. I read the story of Daphnie and Apollo to DD. She liked it and had lots of questions. A woman who didn't want to get married? He felt her heart beating under the bark of the tree? A nymph? Cupid? LOL. She seems to really like Greek mythology. She hasn't yet covered it in school but it seems like material that really gets the imagination running. :)

She asked me if I believe in these gods. I told her, "If I had to pick a God to believe in, this is who I would choose." I then turned to a picture of a stone bust of Minerva (head for Lemnian statue, Roman copy after Phidias). It is a beautiful picture.
Oh for shame, how the mortals put the blame on us gods, for they say evils come from us, but it is they, rather, who by their own recklessness win sorrow beyond what is given... Zeus (1178 BC)

The Holy Sacrament.
