Restoration of the Priesthood[s]...

Post by _Drifting »

If John the Baptist then later the Apostles Peter, James and John had "restored" the Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthoods why didn't Joseph Smith or Oliver Cowdery say or record anything about it for FIVE years.

For example they forgot to mention it at key events like the organization of the church in April 1830 but did suddenly recall it in 1834 at the time of a credibility crisis.

This is one where the liberal apologists (i.e. the bloggernacle, not the FARMS types) are digging the church into a hole.

After the Randy Bott fiasco, where poor Bott was dumb enough to cite past apostles and prophets, the line has been that institutional discrimination against blacks was never doctrinal. The proof? There was no recorded revelation enshrining the priesthood ban, therefore it was never doctrinal, only folklore.

Of course, now one asks, where is the revelation that records the restoration of the Melchizedek priesthood? None exists, we don't even know the date it happened. So the church is now in a bind. Either the church has the Melchizedek priesthood and the ban was doctrinal, or the ban was not doctrinal and the Melchizedek priesthood is also folklore.

It's a tough choice.

Thank you, Prof Bott.

I've been saying this for years. But no one ever pays attention to the lil women.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

Perhaps there was a shortage on ink orrrr paper at the time?

Apologist: Look at all that was omitted from the Book of Mormon, you just need to trust in the ways of God. Only HE knows the answers to the above question.
You only need one answer and that is this: THE CHURCH IS TRUE.

In a church which teaches that men will become gods and women just one of many help mates to these deified men, would you expect them to listen to women?
