That's right. Unlike the Woodruffites (i.e., the LDS Church), the FLDS don't fold like a card table when the government threatens to take their property if they don't give up the commandments they were given by God.

Membership in the LDS Church or holding a temple recommend is not an indication current faith or standing with the Lord. Only by comparison of actions with LDS doctrine can one get a sense of that.

No. As per the article, the campus had previously invited a Jewish commencement speaker.

Not only that, but Romney isn't even the first Mormon commencement speaker they've had. Glenn Beck spoke there in 2010. Rather crappy reporting on CNN's part to not note that.

I think the real story here is that politically conservative evangelicals are beginning to cozy up to Romney and accept him as the nominee. Leave it to the media to keep this "evangelical voters causing problems for Romney" story going.

Kevin Graham shared statistics that suggested conservative evangelicals not infrequently voted for Romney over Huckabee in the last Republican primary.

If true, then they have not been so averse to Romney for a while now.

He was a Mormon when he spoke. What's happened since he spoke that's taken him out of the LDS Church?

I'm aware that he criticized the LDS Church over Proposition 8, but that's hardly enough to make him not a Mormon. There are a lot of Mormons who think the LDS Church overstepped its bounds regarding Proposition 8.

But Dick Cheney also spoke there, and surely he qualifies as at least an honorary Mormon by your standards. That should balance out Harry Milquetoast.

BC is of the opinion that Mormon Democrats (of which I'm a proud card carrying member) aren't legitimate Mormons. I'd include Droopy in that, but he never says anything nice or in a nice way.
