I have said before that none of the innovations credited to Smith were his idea. Everything was plagiarized from someone else. Does anyone know if he got his ideas about the layout of cities from another source, the same way he borrowed all his theological concepts from others?

Footnote 3 from History of the Church, Vol. 1 Chapter 26 [June 1833- July 1833]

In the fall of 1832, Joseph and Newel K. Whitney had visited major eastern cities
including Boston and New York. In an October letter to his wife Smith noted some of his
observations about the city streets and infrastructure: praising some, condemning others.
His experience there no doubt played into his ideas about the plat for Zion. When
Brigham Young came to Utah, many of the principles for the city of Zion were put into
practice in Salt Lake City. [C. Mark Hamilton, Nineteenth-Century Mormon Architecture
& City Planning, (New York: Oxford Univ. Press, 1995).]

The name of the "king" in Facsimile No. 3 of the Book of Abraham is Isis. Yes...that is her name.

I think it without question Talmage was more influential than Young in shaping the modern correlated version of Mormon Doctrine.

On the other hand, I bet Talmage couldn't have led a wagon train west.

Home Teaching. It originally came about during the paranoia of Mormon Reformation.

Pretty much when you mention the name Brigham Young it gives me a bad feeling altogether. His name makes me think of tyrants and dictators -- or even nazis. The name Brigham Young makes me think of MMM, murder and coverup -- all that glory of the Utah god whose very foundations are built on murder and cult offerings from the Bible. And then there is the school named after him that is run by a band of dodos. May Facsimile No. 3 ever be a thorn in the sides of the school teachers who defend that homemade religion known as Mormonism. They can choke on the Explanations of Facsimile No. 3 because they are never ever going to be able to get out from that one and they know it! Choke on it John Gee! Facsimile No 3 is up your nose with a rubber hose!
