Think of this way: How would you feel if you spent your entire career writing vacuous platitudes disguised as editorials and heartwarming LDS human-interest stories? To me, that would be pure hell. Maybe that's what I'm destined to do in the telestial kingdom.

Runtu,

From what I have read of your work, you would be an utter failure.

Sorry to say this, my friend, but you just don't do vacuous very well.

It's worse than that.. All of Scotts work is vetted by the church correlation committee before publication..

I think that Mr. Stak's assessment of Scotty-dog Lloyd is spot-on, though I think he (i.e., Stak) went a bit easy on him. Scott represents some of the most frightening aspects of Mormonism: yes, he is the sort of dullard bureaucrat/pencil-pusher who thinks that "Mello Yellow" is a trendy and rockin' song, but he also would love to oppurtunity to censor and/or ban something as benign as Jesus Christ: Superstar. And that's precisely what makes Scott such an ugly manifestation of fundamentalist Mopologetic Internet Mormonism: he hates the world, and wishes that he would warp it to suit his vision--and his "vision," as it were, is a Kafkaesque, correlated nightmare that seeks to stamp out uniqueness, diversity, and excitement. He would do away with rock 'n' roll and rap music if he could; he would burn Lolita and Tropic of Cancer; and he would make it so that people could reproduce without ever touching and/or seeing each other naked. You see hints of this in somebody like Pahoran (or Droopy), too, who is every bit as much a fundamentalist as Scott (though I don't think Pahoran is as puritanical). The difference is that Pahoran wears his anger on his sleeve, whereas Scotty-dog bottles it up. But sometimes it gets out.

I remember one time where he erupted and went on some crazy and bigoted rant against the relatively anodyne TV preacher Joel Osteen. Scott was carrying on about how this guy is a fraud and a "charlatan" and so forth. Basically Scott sounded exactly like the pissed-off ex-Mormons on RfM that he hates so much. (The mods very quickly deleted his post, by the way.) On another occasion, he blew up after one of his children discovered some of the Church's more rotten historical truths. The kid had apparently stumbled across some Web site that discussed BY's role in Mountain Meadows, or something like that. Scott effectively said that people who write such things deserve to have "millstones hung around their necks" (or something like that), and he went on to basically admit that he would prefer to keep his kids in the dark, and to deliberately hinder their critical thinking skills.

This is the "real" Scotty Dog: the guy who would have jumped at the opportunity to help out someone like Goebbels. What was the famous remark about Eichmann? The "banality of evil," or something like that? That's Scott, in a nutshell. He's a rather squishy-faced, Wonder Bread kind of a guy on the surface, but deep down he really hates the modern world, and wishes that he could crush and censor it to his satisfaction. I have no doubt that he is one of the Mormons (every ward has at least one or two, if not more) who look forward to the Second Coming especially because they hope that all the people they hate will be tortured and made to suffer. But he buries all this and hides it and tries to seem like your basic, friendly, Mr. Rogers-esque Melchezidek priesthood holder.

So that's who Scott Lloyd is.

As for Wade: the guy has too many problems and probably is not worth picking on. I wish him well.

I can't decide which of Scratch's criticism is more biting: the one on Scott or Wade.

Ouch.

Geez, who needs more than one word to describe those two: morons.

Wade is a sexually repressed gay male who uses Mormonism to hide from himself and the rest of the world in my opinion. He spews the same tired rhetoric to assist other doubting Mormons that Joseph Smith really saw something... anything, while knowing that he didn't. I don't know who the F Scott Lloyd is and I honestly don't give a damn.
