Different people react differently. The point being, that any number of natural explanations are far more probable to you being visited supernaturally by an interstellar, immortal great ape from the planet Kolob.

Tobin wrote:It has nothing to do with "how hard you work" at all actually. It is between you and God. You have to be willing to listen and God must speak with you. You have to realize you can not compell it and in turn, you must be called and ready for it. I don't think God would have appeared in my life if I wouldn't have responded and it was helpful to me. And I certainly couldn't compell it either. I prayed for years as a Mormon for such an answer and never received one until after I had long since left.

So what you're saying is God doesn't talk to me because I wouldn't respond and it wouldn't be helpful to me.
Well Tobin since apparently I can't 'compel' God to answer me what am I supposed to do exactly?

Tobin,

Of the few million members, how many follow "true Mormonism", would you guess?

I have no idea. I know my uncle saw God as did my Grandfather and that is why they were Mormon.

Not at all. I'm saying it is between you and God to work out.

you already know the textbook Mormon answer to that. You are supposed to Read the Book of Mormon and pray. That solves just about everything.

Well I wanted to compare and contrast the textbook Mormon answer with the Tobin answer. I think I'll continue in apostasy. That's how tobin found God, so I'm going to try to get the same results.

Based on real experiences with God instead of heartburn and correlation meetings.

Maybe we need to step back a little and question your definition of "true Mormonism".

The likelihood is that a Joseph Smith and his scribe today would be better educated so many of the errors in the original Book of Mormon might not exist -- the grammar might be better. Because people have a desire to believe in something, I think some people would be willing to accept it. A lot of people still ideally would have a church without a professional priesthood. I think the Mormon response might be that God's timing was such that the Book of Mormon was brought forward right at the right time so that a hypothetical like the question in this thread is meaningless. God "writes straight with crooked lines" so to speak.
