The impotent & bloodthirsty God of the Book of Mormon

Post by _SteelHead »

All throughout the translation narrative, of how the Book of Mormon was translated, we see miraculous accounts of giving the plates back to Moroni, and the angel subsequently lugging the plates around, them returning them to Joseph.

http://www.LDS.org/ensign/1992/01/moron ... iths-tutor

July 1828:
Plates and Urim and Thummim are taken. (Harmony, Pa.)
~HC 1:23

July–Aug. 1828 or 22 Sept. 1828:
Plates and Urim and Thummim are returned. (Harmony, Pa.)
~HC 1:23; Biographical Sketches, p. 126

June 1829:
Angel obtains the plates at Harmony, Pa., to transport them to Fayette Township, N.Y., because Joseph is apprehensive about their safety en route. (Harmony, Pa.)
~Biographical Sketches, p. 137

So when it comes to the plates of brass why did some angel not help out?
Nephi and co. go to get the plates.
They fail a couple of times.
Laman and Lemuel start to deride and beat Nephi.
An angel comes and chastizes them.

Now does this angel just solve the problem by handing over the plates? No. But it seems well within the operating parameters. The narrative as a whole is full of angels transporting plates.

So now instead of just lending a hand, the angel sends them back to Jerusalem. Now the lord is going to help a bit. He delivers a druken Laban to Nephi and orders Nephi to decapitate Laban...... Seems a little extreme to me. Couldn't Nephi just have tied him up? Now the argument I have heard against this is that Laban would have raised an alarm and chased after them......

Really? So when the watch finds the decapitated body of an apparently wealthy citizen, and his treasury robbed..... they wouldn't have gone after the decapitators?

I am sure now that some will argue that there was some point only known to god in having Nephi decapitate Laban. Some higher purpose.

But me, I am confused as to why he just didn't use a photocopier and angel deliver an extra copy of the brass book. This god character of the Book of Mormon later drops a magical guide ball on their doorstep, why couldn't he have just dropped off a copy of the brass plates.

Oh yeah, cause he is bloodthirsty and impotent. And remember kids don't kill, except when you are told to.

I guess you missed it last time this went up. The determinant on The Apocalrock to verify that the art renders the two major migrations of the Book of Mormon is a large man cutting the head off.

You see Shiz got his head cut off and that was the last act recorded of the Jaredites. and Laban got his head cut off and that was nearly the first act of the Nephite/Lamanite migration.

You see int he rock a submarine sort of vessel with a hatch on top and a great bearded man in front on the top of the Mountian. That would be Mahonri Moriancumur. And to the right we see a sailing vessel with a King seated with his back to the bow of the ship. Four or more large heads face towards the king (the prophets) and there is a rift between the prophets and Laman.

Since this work of God's signet and seal upon the earth proving himself in a time when many generations have denied his existence and showing the salvation of our God before eyes of all nations, this mountain of the Lord was prepared before any of these events took place. So Laban had to get whacked for this to make good sense. Truth is. Can't fight it. Well, you can, but why?

There are over three dozen perfectly composed and wonderfully rendered cosmic artworks cut out of the mountain without hands by the living God rendered mostly upon the same side of a single rock face that confronts the LDS headquarters in SAlt Lake City. This confrontation is why the Gentiles were brought here.

Steelhead, That does sound a bit Koranic. Does anyone know if Joseph Smith ever had the chance to read the Koran?

Excuse the crudity of my drawing, I am no good with a mouse.

I see cthulhu rising from the deep. His leathery wings unfurling as he rises. He will consume the world!!!!

"A mountain walked or stumbled. God! What wonder that across the earth a great architect went mad, and poor Wilcox raved with fever in that telepathic instant? The Thing of the idols, the green, sticky spawn of the stars, had awaked to claim his own. The stars were right again, and what an age-old cult had failed to do by design, a band of innocent sailors had done by accident. After vigintillions of years great Cthulhu was loose again, and ravening for delight."
