You're living proof that Rollo is right. As long as people like you are out there making excuses for racism--or flat out denying it--the church will have to deal with its racists doctrines and their defenders.

I was on my mission well after 1978, and the priesthood ban was still doing damage. When black people find out about it then and now it is never a positive response.

I really don't get what is motivating some Mormons in the CoB to backpedal on the whole elevation to Godhood belief - with all that that entails. They now imagine LDS doctrine positing a "Godhood Lite" concept, ie: God's attributes, but not live and do what God does now, over our own domains. Not only is that a reversal of what was taught in the past, but it's also a dilution of the promises made. They aren't adding incentives to Mormons, they're removing them IMHO.

Apparently someone thinks this will make Mormon doctrine less heretical to mainstream Protestants. Whatever.

I remember reading "The Great Apostasy", which detailed how the early Catholic church changed many fundamental doctrines of Christ's church and devolved into the so-called "Whore of Babylon" drawing near to God in appearance while denying everything that made it Christ's body. That kind of sounds like what you describe here, Seth. All over again.

Yes. Besides this asset, there is also Obliblish, Enish-go-on-dosh, the fifteen planet Stargate powered by Hau-ka-ko-beams, Ensign Properties, Zions Bank, National Organization for Marriage, Deseret Management, millions of planets ruled by celestialized Saints and the very first Donny Osmond action figure in mint condition.

Actually not. All of the doctrines the early Catholic church changed were never official. If you think I'm wrong, show me the official publications printed by the Corporation of the President of Christ's Original Church showing otherwise.

"Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my corporation sole, and the gates of homosexuals, feminists, and intellectuals shall not prevail against it."

That, or the Newsroom press releases from Peter, James, and John. Those count too.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen
